The Orbital Compass
A Bit About the Project
I am incredibly fascinated by the complexities of orbital mechanics, and I wanted to show that on my final for DT8B. Inspired by the Astro Watch, the compass has several small domes representing satellites and a large dome representing the central planet. I wanted to show that the further from the planet a satellite orbits the slower they are, therefore using gear ratios I ensured the same mechanic for the satellites in this compass.
The project took about 7 weeks for improving on designs, about two weeks to design and half an hour per render.
I am continuing to work on this to make it printable, so I would love to hear your thoughts and comments!

Update 1: Golden Orrery
Inspired by orreries, I began redesigning the "Golden Compass" to be modeled after the Trappist system.
